ARE Pass Rates by School

The ARE pass rates by school are posted here in response to a request of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). The most expedient means of disseminating the information to all schools is through the Council's web site. The pass rates provided include all candidates testing during the calendar year, regardless of being a first time or repeat tester. The pass rates are not tied to the year of graduation, but to the year the division was administered.

The ARE is a practice-based examination founded on education enhanced by experience. A candidate's performance on the ARE is not based on education alone, it examines a combination of factors above and beyond the granting of a degree. Those reviewing these pass rates must remember that many jurisdictions require a minimum of three years of monitored practical experience prior to sitting for the ARE. Since the overall pass rates are significantly influenced by volume, the number of candidates sitting for the ARE during the year have been identified.

Please note: Due to data anomalies, school performance statistics for the following schools are unavailable prior to calendar year 2010: Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, University of Texas San Antonio, and Northeastern University of Massachusetts.
