Blitch

Ron Blitch, FAIA, FACHA, of New Orleans, LA, is currently president of the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners and past president of AIA Louisiana. He has been involved with NCARB since the early 1990s, beginning as a grader of the ARE. Since then he has served as an ARE coordinator and chair of the Committee on Examination from 2007-2010. He has also served on the Committee on Procedures and Documents, the ARE Technology Subcommittee, and numerous other committees. He was chair of Region 3 of NCARB in 2009-2010.

Blitch heads the firm of Blitch Knevel Architects in New Orleans, founded by his father in 1958. He and his father are one of only two father/son FAIAs in AIA Louisiana history. He was named a fellow of AIA in 1999 and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects in 2000. He received the inaugural Distinguished Service Award from AIA Louisiana in 1998.

Blitch Knevel Architects specializes in the design of healthcare, senior living, university, and religious work and has received over 80 major design awards. Blitch is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and its Rome Studies Center and is licensed in Louisiana and six other states through the NCARB Certificate.

Ronald B. Blitch, FAIA, FACHA, NCARB, of New Orleans, LA, was elected first vice president/president-elect of NCARB at its 92nd Annual Meeting and Conference in June. By virtue of his election, he will assume the NCARB presidency in July 2012.
