The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards is seeking authors for its next series of monographs on the following topics:
Building Commissioning The systematic process of ensuring that a building’s complex array of systems is designed, installed and tested to perform according to the design intent and the building owner’s operational needs.
Natural Hazards – Flooding In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, there is a desire to update designs for natural disasters, looking at good planning practices, guidelines, standards, design features and references.
Architecture of the Interior When planning the layout and design of spaces within buildings, architects must protect the end-users while creating an environment that is functionally improved, psychologically enhanced, and aesthetically enriched.
The monograph’s targeted audience includes registered architects with some familiarity with the subject matter. Monographs are not intended to be introductions to the subject. Selected authors will be provided with a development and production schedule.
If you are interested in authoring a future monograph, please submit the following by February 29, 2008:
- A letter with contact information indicating the monograph of interest, your experience with the subject matter, and your professional research on the subject (if any);
- A resume with references;
- A formal outline and a brief description of what you believe the content of the monograph should be and your approach to writing the monograph;
- An unedited writing sample.
Authors are also sought for mini-monographs which will be published in future issues of the Direct Connection. Topics for mini-monographs are open, but must fulfill health, safety, and welfare continuing education requirements. Proposals for mini-monographs may be sent at any time during the year.
