New Prometric Exam Security Process

NCARB has been informed by its testing consultant, Prometric, that it will be implementing additional security procedures at the test centers. As a result of a pilot program conducted in 2010, Prometric has decided to deploy hand-held metal detectors to all Prometric testing centers in the United States by mid-June 2011.

This new policy is summarized as follows:

• All candidates will be scanned by a hand-held metal detector prior to each entry into the testing room, including returns from breaks;
• All candidates will be required to submit to the scans, with few exceptions; and
• Candidates refusing to be scanned may not be permitted to test.

Please be aware of and prepared for this change at upcoming testing appointments.
