NCARB and AIA Hong Kong Celebrate New Test Center

16 April 2014

Hong Kong—In early April, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) began delivering the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) in Hong Kong. To celebrate, AIA’s Hong Kong chapter invited NCARB CEO Michael Armstrong to tour the test center and speak to U.S. interns and architects living in the area.

“Our data shows that Asia has one of the highest concentrations of U.S. licensure candidates living abroad,” said Armstrong. “We are continuously looking for ways to make the licensure process more accessible for U.S. candidates, and we are delighted to expand international delivery of the ARE to Asia.”

The launch of the ARE in Hong Kong was a joint effort between NCARB, AIA Hong Kong, and test center vendor Prometric, working with the Hong Kong Examination Agency. AIA Hong Kong was instrumental in working with local authorities to facilitate the approval process for the ARE to be available in Hong Kong.

“NCARB is thrilled to open this test center in Hong Kong and is grateful for AIA Hong Kong’s assistance in making it happen,” said Armstrong.
