Seattle, WA—President-elect Kristine A. Harding, NCARB, AIA, announced at the organization’s 97th Annual Business Meeting that NCARB will focus on adding benefits to the NCARB Certificate

“Our NCARB Certificate is more than a passport to reciprocal licensure,” Harding said. “Soon it will offer additional services to help architects manage their licenses.”

The organization will also be placing a high priority on architectural education in the coming year. This will take shape in NCARB’s continued support of the Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) initiative—which now represents nearly 15 percent of all programs accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board, as well as Harding’s own involvement with an International Task Force established by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). “I’m looking forward to a rebirth in our relationship with education,” said Harding.

Harding also announced that NCARB will be reviewing its Model Law in an effort to better serve its customers and Member Boards, and to define the organization’s role in the global setting.

“Because we’ve recently updated the majority of our programs, it’s now a good time to move to take a fresh look at our Model Law from a global and aspirational perspective,” said Harding, who is establishing a task force to evaluate the organization’s current Model Law.

The incoming president closed by commending the organization on its ability to enage as a community. This collaboration will be important in the coming year, she said, as the organization implements refreshed programs and looks for new ways to serve the public. “It is a sign of a healthy NCARB that there is such a good partnership between our excellent staff and our dedicated volunteers,” Harding said. “Together we are going further.”
