ARE Update: Get Ready for ARE 5.0 With NCARB’s New Handbook (September 2016)
To help you start preparing for the November 1 launch of ARE 5.0, we’ve developed a new resource: the ARE 5.0 Handbook! The document provides in-depth information about the structure of each division, explains the objectives you will be assessed on, and provides references to additional resources.

ARE Update: ARE 5.0 Guidelines Now Available (August 2016)
To help you prepare for the November 1 launch of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) 5.0, we’ve released the ARE 5.0 Guidelines! The document includes an introduction to the exam, an overview of appointment times, plus five steps to completing the exam.

ARE Update: NCARB Announces ARE 5.0 Launch Date (June 2016)
The next version of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®), ARE 5.0, will launch November 1, 2016, incorporating the latest testing technologies and format that more closely aligns with modern practice.

ARE Update: NCARB Releases ARE 5.0 Details and Question Type Demos (February 2016)
ARE 5.0 will be split into six divisions and feature two new question types.

ARE Update: Reminder - Shortened ARE Retake Policy Goes Into Effect October 1, 2014 (September 2014)
Beginning October 1, 2014, candidates who have failed a division of the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) will be able to retake the division as soon as 60 days after the previous attempt and up to three times in a running year.

ARE Update: ARE 5.0 Transition Plan... It's here! (May 2014)
The launch of ARE 5.0 is still over two years away, but we wanted to let you know about the transition plan as soon as possible so you can make a plan and finish the exam no matter which version is available.

ARE Update: ARE Coming to Hong Kong in April (March 2014)
ARE® candidates can sit for exams in Prometric test centers in Hong Kong, China beginning April 3.

ARE Update: Final ARE 5.0 Division Structure Announced (December 2013)
The final Test Specification and resulting division structure for ARE 5.0—the next version of ARE® were approved on 7 December 2013 by the NCARB Board of Directors. The future exam will include six divisions, and each will be standalone, single test administrations. This structure results from an effort to align the exam with more commonly defined professional architect activities.

ARE Update: ARE 5.0 Coming in 2016 (November 2013)
ARE Candidates can look forward to an exciting new era for the ARE®. As announced in June 2013, the NCARB Board of Directors voted to approve the development of ARE 5.0, the next version of the examination, set to launch in fall 2016. Learn more.
