Arkansas Architect Blakely C. Dunn, AIA, Installed as Regional Director of National Architect Council
Washington, DC—Blakely C. Dunn, AIA, of El Dorado, AR was installed on the Board of Directors for the
National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) during the organization’s June 2007 Annual
Meeting and Conference in Denver, CO.
As the director for Region 3 (Southern Conference), Dunn represents the U.S. jurisdictions of Alabama, Arkansas,
Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and the
Virgin Islands. The Southern Conference elected Dunn director in March 2007 during its spring meeting in
Orlando, FL.
Dunn started his career as an intern at CADM Architecture, Inc. in El Dorado in 1985. After working for several
years at The Stuck Associates Inc., in Little Rock, AR, and Bullock-Tice Associates, in Pensacola, FL, Dunn
returned to CADM Architecture as a principal in 1991 and was named president in 2000. The firm—known for
its work designing educational, senior living, governmental, and commercial buildings—recently received the Villas
Hubbard Beautification Award for the Settlers Trail Senior Housing project in Lodi, WI.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Dunn received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1985 and Bachelor of Arts
in 1984. Dunn holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity and is registered to practice in Arkansas,
Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Texas, and Wisconsin.
First appointed to the Arkansas State Board of Architects in 1999 by then-Governor Mike Huckabee, Dunn has
been chosen by various NCARB presidents to serve on a number of Council committees, including the
Committee on Education, Broadly Experienced Architect Committee, Committee on Procedures and Documents,
and the 2006/2007 Practice Analysis Task Force. Prior to being elected Director for Region 3, Dunn served as its
chair for two terms, secretary for one year and on its board of directors for three years. He also served as an observer
on the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) team that assessed curricula at Louisiana Tech
University.
Among his community-related work, Dunn has served as commissioner for the El Dorado Historic District
Commission and the director of the El Dorado Rotary Club, the El Dorado Mainstreet Program and the United
Cerebral Palsy of Union County.

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards is committed to exemplary service and effective regulation
to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public. In order to achieve these goals, the Council develops
and recommends standards to be required of an applicant for architectural registration; develops and recommends
standards regulating the practice of architecture; provides to member boards a process for certifying the qualifications
of an architect for registration; and represents the interests of member boards before public and private agencies.
With the Committee of Canadian Architectural Councils (CCAC), NCARB has also established guidelines
for the reciprocal registration of U.S. and Canadian architects.
