Lenora A. Isom

Lenora A. Nelson, RA, NCARB, of Ashland, Nebraska, is the FY23 director of NCARB’s Region 5, which includes Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Nelson joined the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects in 2016, and has since served as the board’s secretary, vice chair, and chair. She was elected to NCARB’s Region 5 as the secretary/treasurer of Region 5 in 2018, and later became the region’s chair. In 2016, she was appointed to a task force responsible for setting the cut score for the latest version of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®). Nelson has also been a member of NCARB’s Examination, Policy Advisory, and Regional Leadership committees, as well as the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®) Portfolio Audit Team, Continuing Education Subcommittee, and Diversity Collaborative. In addition, she has represented NCARB as part of a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) review team, which evaluated the curriculum of a college architecture program.

Nelson is a housing design professional for the Nebraska Public Service Commission, as well as the owner and principal of ISOMetric Architecture, which offers consulting and contract-based architectural and code review services to the greater Omaha area. She has previously served the public as a building official, and worked as the executive director of the Ashland Area Economic Development Corporation. In addition, she is a part-time lecturer at the University of Nebraska College of Architecture. 

As an NCARB certified architect with over twenty years of experience in the industry, Nelson is registered in both Nebraska and Maryland. She holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
