Washington, DC—Kenneth J. Naylor, AIA, LEED AP, of Salt Lake City, UT, was installed as president of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) at its 91st Annual Meeting and Conference in San Francisco. Over the past two years, Naylor has served as the Council’s second vice president and then first vice president/president-elect.

Naylor has many years of dedicated service to the profession. He served on the Utah Architectural Licensing Board from 1999-2007 and was the board’s chair from 2003-2007. His colleagues from the Council’s Western Conference recognized his leadership abilities and elected him to the NCARB Board of Directors as the director of Region 6 (comprised of the U.S. jurisdictions of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington) from 2006-2009. Prior to that, he served on the Western Conference executive committee from 2001 through 2005.

Naylor has been a thoughtful and proactive member of numerous Council committees. In recent years he served as Board liaison to the Committee on Procedures and Documents, the Committee on Education, the Committee on Examination, the ARE Subcommittee, and the ARE Grading Subcommittee.

His commitment to the profession also includes service to the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Naylor is the past president of AIA Utah, and he served on the AIA Board Knowledge Committee and the AIA National Associates Committee. He was recently awarded the Bronze Medal, the highest award given by AIA Utah to a practicing architect, for his leadership and service to the profession.

Naylor is a founding principal and president of Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects, PC, an award-winning firm that offers professional expertise in programming, master planning, interior design, architectural design, and construction administration of educational, governmental, and commercial facilities, with offices in Salt Lake City and St. George, UT.

Naylor earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture from the University of Utah. He holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity and is registered to practice in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming.
