NCARB President Dennis S. Ward, FAIA, NCARB, will join the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) Board of Directors this summer. Under his new role as NCARB Liaison, Ward will facilitate collaboration between the two organizations, ensuring the voices of architecture students are heard.
“Dennis’ energy, passion, and commitment to the next generation of architects make him a great first NCARB Liaison on our Board,” said AIAS President Danielle Mitchell, Assoc. AIA. “We look forward to seeing the connection between the AIAS and NCARB evolve and grow through this appointment.”
As a member and chair of numerous NCARB committees and task forces, Ward has played a vital role in advancing the profession, especially where aspiring architects are concerned. In 2015, he established the Integrated Path Evaluation Committee (IPEC) to ensure continued success of NCARB’s Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure. Ward has also served on numerous exam-related committees and as an NCARB visiting team representative for the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB).
“Architecture is a highly collaborate field, and it’s an architect’s responsibility to support the next generation of practitioners,” said Ward. “I look forward to strengthening this relationship through my work with the AIAS Board of Directors.”
The AIAS Council of Presidents voted to create the new NCARB Liaison Board position in January at the AIAS FORUM. Ward will be installed to the Board of Directors this July at the AIAS Grassroots Leadership conference.
