Gary Ey

Gary R. Ey, CDT, was first appointed to the Maryland Board of Architects in 2003, and serves as a co-chair of the Complaint Committee for the board. He has been a valuable member of several NCARB committees since 2016, including the Audit, Credentials, Education, and Experience committees, and has been actively engaged with NCARB’s community of public members. He was elected as NCARB's public director at the organization’s 2020 Annual Business Meeting.

In addition to his service to NCARB, Ey has volunteered for the Harford County Public School System as a member of their Career & Technology Education Committee, where he monitored magnet school programs to ensure they aligned with current industry practice. He is involved in his local community and has previously served both his church and multiple homeowners associations.

Ey has worked in the construction industry for over 30 years and is currently a senior project superintendent at Barton Malow. His role working in an industry adjacent to the architecture profession gives him a unique perspective as a consumer of architectural services. During his career, he has worked on projects ranging from educational buildings and health centers to convention centers and arenas. Ey holds a Construction Documents Technology (CDT) certification from the Constructions Specification Institute (CSI).
