Jim Oschwald, NCARB, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, of Albuquerque, NM, has been a member of the New Mexico Board of Examiners for Architects since 2004, serving as chair from 2007-2009 and vice chair from 2005-2007 and 2015-2016. He was elected to the Western Conference (Region 6) in 2012, where he served as vice chair in 2012, chair from 2014-2016, and is now director for the region. He has worked on various NCARB committees, including the Broadly Experienced Architect and Broadly Experienced Foreign Architect committees, where he oversaw the restructuring and digitalization of the BEA, and worked on process compliance with the Canadian and Mexican counterparts of the Tri-National Agreement. He also volunteered on the Education, Procedures and Documents, and Regional Leadership committees, as well as the Resiliency Work Group and Building Information Modeling Task Force.
Oschwald practices architecture in Albuquerque and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, New Mexico chapter. He serves as the Albuquerque Post vice president for the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the New Mexico SAME architectural practice liaison, and is a member of the SAME National Architectural Practice Committee. His design team received Air Force design awards, Air Combat Command Citations, and Merit Awards in 2005, 2006, and 2009. Oschwald studied at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and graduated from Boston Architectural College. He has held an NCARB Certificate since 2002 and is licensed in New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, and Wyoming.
