NCARB has updated the licensing requirements tool to include a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) chat feature that can help candidates more easily understand licensure requirements in the 55 U.S. states and territories, also called jurisdictions.
Through the new AI chat tab of the licensing requirements tool, you can ask questions related to initial licensure, reciprocal licensure, licensure renewal, and practice requirements for each jurisdiction. You can also ask the tool to compare multiple jurisdictions’ requirements or share a list of jurisdictions that accept specific requirements: for example, a list of jurisdictions that currently require a degree from a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).
The chat feature will remember questions you’ve previously asked during your session and respond to follow-up questions, but it will not remember previously asked questions if you close out of the licensing requirements tool webpage or navigate to a different page.
If the tool did not answer your question correctly, or if you have additional suggestions to help improve the tool, you have the option to submit feedback directly on the AI-powered chat tab of the licensing requirements tool.
Keep in mind, this tool is only intended to answer questions related to jurisdictional licensing requirements—it does not answer general licensure-related questions, such as “Where can I find NCARB’s free practice exams?” In addition, the tool does not have access to your personal information, like your email address or NCARB Record number. NCARB is considering how we can best utilize AI and may release other chat features that address common licensure-related questions in the future.
