This week, delegates from the U.S. architectural licensing boards will gather to discuss issues facing the regulation of the profession at NCARB’s Annual Business Meeting (ABM) in Los Angeles. This important three-day event invites board members from across the country to safely participate (in person or remotely) to reflect on our common goals and dive into what’s on the horizon for the organization.

Why You Should Care About the Annual Business Meeting

At the 2021 ABM, we’ll review data and discuss initiatives to further improve equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the profession; explore how current issues may impact the future of architectural regulation; and plan our primary goals for the upcoming year and beyond.

During the meeting, attendees will get the chance to learn more about NCARB’s ongoing initiatives and the Council’s evolving programs and services—including updates to the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®)—through business sessions and workshops. Attendees at this year’s ABM will also get the opportunity to:

  • Vote on resolutions related to updating the requirements for NCARB certification and official documents
  • Receive updates from leadership about critical issues impacting specific state boards
  • Elect new officers for the Board of Directors

Your board members are at the forefront of the profession, and the decisions they make will affect the future of NCARB, the architecture community, and you. The meeting’s workshops and sessions will provide them with essential resources to guide them as they help shape and regulate your jurisdiction’s practice of architecture.

After a year of navigating and responding to unforeseen challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re excited to continue growing and transforming in the coming years.
