Minneapolis, MN—Nathan Baker, NCARB, AIA, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was elected as a regional director at the National Council of Architectural Registration Board’s (NCARB) Annual Business Meeting. Baker was nominated to serve on the NCARB Board of Directors by Region 5, which represents the architectural licensing boards of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Baker was appointed to the Oklahoma Board of Governors of Architects, Landscape Architects, and Licensed Interior Designers in 2014, serving as chair from 2022-2024. He was also elected by his peers as chair of Region 5.
As a dedicated volunteer, Baker has offered his time and expertise to several NCARB initiatives, including the Experience, Policy Advisory, Professional Conduct, and Regional Leadership committees, as well as the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) Cut Score Task Force. As chair of the Professional Conduct Committee, Baker led efforts to modernize the Rules of Procedures for NCARB Certificate holders and licensure candidates.
In 2013, Baker cofounded Integrated Architecture, which later joined with Schemmer. He served on an advisory committee for the Oklahoma City Council and as area director for Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit dedicated to improving homes. Baker was also a member of the University of Oklahoma’s Board of Visitors, which helps bridge the gap between education and practice.
In 2025, Baker was awarded the NCARB President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, the organization’s highest honor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Oklahoma and holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity.

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards’ membership is made up of the architectural licensing boards of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. NCARB, in collaboration with these boards, facilitates the licensure and credentialing of architects to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
