Nathan Baker, NCARB, AIA, of Edmond, Oklahoma, is NCARB’s FY27 director of Region 5. Nate is a licensed architect in the State of Oklahoma whose career is driven by a passion for creating meaningful places that enhance how people live, work, and connect. He believes that great architecture is ultimately measured by the experiences it creates and that the built environment has the power to positively impact the mind, body, and spirit of those who interact with it.
In 2013, Nate co-founded Integrated Architecture, which later joined Schemmer, where he continues to focus on advancing design excellence and client service. His commitment to community engagement has included serving on an advisory committee for the Oklahoma City Council, acting as area director for Rebuilding Together—a nonprofit dedicated to improving homes for those in need—and serving on the University of Oklahoma’s Board of Visitors, helping strengthen the connection between architectural education and professional practice.
Throughout his career, Nate has concentrated on building high-performing teams that deliver exceptional architectural solutions while maintaining professional excellence and financial sustainability. He is dedicated to fostering a healthy organizational culture that enables consistent, high-quality service, ensuring projects not only meet client goals but also create lasting value for the communities they serve.
Nate was appointed to the Oklahoma Board of Governors of Architects, Landscape Architects, and Licensed Interior Designers in 2014, serving as chair from 2022-2024. He was also elected by his peers as chair of NCARB Region 5.
As a dedicated volunteer, Nate has offered his time and expertise to several NCARB initiatives, including the Experience, Policy Advisory, Professional Conduct, and Regional Leadership committees, as well as the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) Cut Score Task Force. As chair of the Professional Conduct Committee, Nate led efforts to modernize the Rules of Procedures for NCARB Certificate holders and licensure candidates.
In 2025, Nate was awarded the NCARB President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, the organization’s highest honor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Oklahoma and holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity.
