
Stephanie V. Hopkins, of Baltimore, Maryland, is NCARB’s FY26 public director. Hopkins was first appointed to the Maryland Board of Architects in 2014, reappointed in 2019, and served on the board’s Continuing Professional Competency Committee, and the Complaint Committee. She has also been a valuable member of several NCARB committees, including the Ethics Case Study Work Group, which developed continuing education materials related to professional ethics for use by practicing architects. Hopkins has also been a member of NCARB’s Futures Collaborative, which is exploring trends and technologies impacting the future of architecture practice and regulation, and the Board of Director’s liaison on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, as well as the Audit Committee. She was elected as NCARB’s public director in 2023.
In 2025, she was awarded the NCARB President’s Medal of Distinguished Service by President Kenneth R. Van Tine, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, in recognition of her service to the profession.
Hopkins retired from the Office of the Baltimore City State’s Attorney in 2017. She received her certification in photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and has used that knowledge of photography around the world.
