
Edward T. Marley, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP, of Tucson, Arizona, is NCARB’s FY26 president. Marley was a member of the Arizona Board of Technical Registration from 2012-2018, where he served as chair for two terms. Marley was elected to the NCARB Board of Directors in 2019, where he served terms as the director of Region 6, secretary, treasurer, second vice president, and vice president. He was inaugurated as the organization’s president at the 2025 NCARB Annual Business Meeting.
In addition to his service on the NCARB Board of Directors, Marley has volunteered for NCARB’s Broadly Experienced Architect, Credentials, Regional Leadership, and Policy Advisory committees, as well as the Certification Alternatives Review Team. In 2024, Marley led the development of the Inaugural NCARB Leadership Institute, a six-month training program designed to ensure NCARB’s members and volunteers are empowered to make informed, strategic leadership decisions.
Marley is a partner at Swaim Associates, LTD, Architects, which he joined in 1983. He was promoted to partner in 1992. Marley has been an NCARB Certificate holder since 1997, and is licensed in ten jurisdictions. A member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) since 1983, he has served as the local chapter secretary and president, as well as the Arizona chapter president. Between 1983 and 1997, Marley was the architect licensing advisor for AIA Arizona. In recognition of these contributions to architecture and his community, Marley was awarded the Arizona Architects Medal in 2004. Marley has served on several local boards and is the past-president of Cornerstone Building Foundation Charities, which provides scholarships to local building-related educational groups, including the University of Arizona College of Architecture from which he graduated in 1982. In 2024, he was inducted into the AIA College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in recognition of his career-long achievements in advancing the profession of architecture.
