Robert Cozzarelli, FAIA, NCARB, SARA, PP, CID, of Belleville, New Jersey, is NCARB’s FY27 director of Region 2. Robert has over 40 years’ experience as a licensed architect. He has designed new and renovation type projects for federal, state, municipal and private clients providing services for new architecture, architectural interior design, construction administration and construction management, project-delivery, and forensic expertise. His firm, Cozzarelli Cirminiello Architects, has a significant focus in Healthcare Architecture, Higher Educational, Government, Adaptive Reuse and Private sector projects.
Robert was appointed to the New Jersey State Board of Architects in 2017, serving as president from 2019-2020. He also represented the board on the New Jersey Joint Committee of Architects and Engineers. Robert was elected by his peers as chair of Region 2, after serving terms as secretary and vice chair/treasurer. Robert’s leadership to the profession was recognized when he was inducted into the AIA College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in recognition of his career-long achievements in advancing the profession of architecture.
As a dedicated volunteer, Robert has offered his time and expertise to several NCARB initiatives, including the Regional Leadership Committee, Licensure Process Research & Development Task Force, Responsible Charge Task Force, and Certification Alternatives Review Team (now Portfolio Assessment Team).
Robert’s professional experience as an architect and his involvement with various architects throughout his career, since 1979, will provide knowledge and training to the NCARB Region 2 director position.
