NCARB’s Information Systems (IS) Directorate has an opening for a Business Development Specialist to help commercialize multiple software products that have the potential to serve a variety of markets with diverse tools. This position is ideal for a recent MBA graduate that is looking to help develop a start-up from vision all the way to the market.
The Business Development Specialist will work in a broad capacity with the Chief Information & Innovation Officer (CIIO) to develop and implement a strategy for business development and sales of software products. This individual will be responsible for prospecting, developing relationships, and closing sales. This is an opportunity to help design a sustainable business model and develop a playbook of processes for reaching out to prospective customers and supporting them on their journey to buying, while helping the CIIO find a profitable business model.
Duties will include:
- Building quality empathetic relationships with prospective customers, qualified leads and customers.
- Understanding and expertise on NCARB products, strategy, roadmap, and product vision.
- Market analysis, sales development and sales.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business; or, combination of substantial related experience, training, and education may substitute. MBA is strongly preferred.
- One or more years of relevant work experience in a business development, software sales or similar role.
- Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- A collaborative style, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to address multiple audiences, interact with diverse groups of professionals, and build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to speak, write, and present very well.
- Comfort level in a smaller, tech focused, energetic, dynamic type of organization
- Ability to conceive, take on, and “own” high-profile projects from the ground up, as the primary lead generator, in a high profile setting
- Some experience within a modern software development environment a plus.
- Some software product experience is helpful.
- Experience using Agile and Lean methods to deliver software solutions is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency using technology and a wide variety of software applications to include Adobe (PDF) Applications; and, Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; and, experience with CRM software preferred.
- Ability to travel including weekends to major client’s sites a few times a quarter for a few days at a time; and, to conferences and trade shows for lead generation and relationship management purpose.
