Robert M. Calvani, FAIA, NCARB, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Examiners for Architects in 2003, serving as chair and vice chair, as well as on various state committees. Since 2004, Calvani has served on a number of NCARB committees, including the Audit, Continuing Education, Experience, Experience Advisory, Procedures and Documents, and Regional Leadership committees, plus the Council’s Licensure Advisory Forum and the Model Law and Practice Analysis task forces. He has also volunteered for several ARE-related committees, including the Examination Committee; the ARE Subcommittee, where he served as chair and coordinator of the Building Systems section; and the Test Specification Task Force, which helped develop the newest version of the exam. Calvani served as NCARB's 2020-2021 president/chair of the Board, and is currently the immediate past president on the Board of Directors.

Calvani also served on the 2012 Practice Analysis Task Force Steering Committee, Practice Analysis Task Force, and Regional Leadership Committee, which developed the Regional Summit template. Additionally, he has been involved with NCARB’s regional leadership, serving as chair of the Western Conference (Region 6) and a member of its Executive Committee.

Calvani is founder and president of NCA Architects, LCC, an architectural firm located in Albuquerque, NM, serving New Mexico and the surrounding states. Calvani earned architectural degrees from both the University of New Mexico and UCLA. He has held an NCARB Certificate since 1981 and is licensed in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Texas.
